Default Sick children at local get together.

I was hoping to go along to a local get together tomorrow for the first time. The group meets once a week during school terms and has been going for a few years now. They started back last week, but I couldn't go, and I can't make next week.

This morning 3 of my children have woken up with colds, not too bad just runny noses and sneezing. So my question is, if you were part of an established group, would it bother you if a new family turned up sick the first time they came?

I'm not very good at socialising, so joining this group is a big thing for me. Having missed last week, and missing next week, I feel like I should go tomorrow to say hello before I loose my nerve to join. But I don't want to upset people the first time I'm there by taking sick children.

So any advice from those that are less socially awkward than me would be greatly appreciated.

Honestly, yes that would bother me. Not the new person specifically, but anyone bringing a sick child, let alone 3, to a get together would peeve me off big time. My son gets sick at the drop of hat and would give me a week of hell at home.

If it were me (and I love to socialise) I would wait until my children were well. I believe it's kinda bad manners to bring sick children to events - inevitably others will catch their sickness (and I'm thinking because this is your first time with the group - you kinda want to make a good first impression

I know it sucks - but the week after next will come

I would be annoyed. You may get off to the wrong start if you go today. Wait until they're better and go
Don't chicken out, once the nerves pass you will love the extra socialisation!

I would be appalled if someone bought their kids along when sick, sorry.

Yep I'd be annoyed. I hate it when anyone, adult or child, comes to any kind of non-essential gathering when they have any kind of contagious sickness. I hate being sick and am generally healthy so it bugs me when people who have a contagious sickness are near me when they don't need to be, like people who have weeks of sick leave owing but still come to work with the flu...

I wouldn't go this week if I were you!

    Edited - typo

Have to agree with everyone else - would not make the best impression. And it's not just about the kiddos - I'm pregnant and my immune system is pretty crap so it would not go down well for me.

I'm not generally one bothered by a slight cold, and my DS is in contact with kids probably on a daily basis who have just had a bug or currently have one at school. I must admit, I am miffed when people rock up to a gathering unwell.

I'd see how they are in the morning, if they're still sniffly I'd let them know the kids are unwell but you look forward to seeing them next time
