Well it was their choice wasn't it.
Apart from this post which may seem insensitive to some, I have only made 2 others, and had one reply. This is a very unwelcoming forum. All the long termers seem to support each other, but stepping in here as a newbie hasn't been the experience I expected, which was just for the people here to be a bit more welcoming and supportive. Thank you all for nothing and goodbye.

I honestly wish they would just close this thread.
It has promoted nothing but vitriol.
Why would you admit to it here I don't know- there's no understanding or support to be gained in this thread.
Just nasty.

Meh, you get out what you put in. My join date is old but I only started posting recently and so far it's been fine. Your post wasn't exactly community minded so you cant really complain about the community not opening it's arms to you.
As to the question, I managed to quit when I was about 12 weeks pregnant with my first. No judgement to people that cant. It was hard. I have resisted picking up a smoke again because I KNOW I will be a full time smoker in an instant. I super loved smoking and I miss it every day even 5 years and a cancer diagnosis later.
