Default Can anyone recommend a resort in Koh Samui/Thailand or Vietnam?

For a group of 4-5 adults (no kids) for a lovely luxury swim-up-to-the-bar, drinks on the beach, relaxing with a book by the pool kinda holiday? We'd prefer a big villa type thing with individual rooms but are happy to look at more traditional resorts too.

There are just so many resorts it's hard to know where to start, and sometimes a word of mouth recommendation is all you need.

I've been to both Vietnam and Thailand and would suggest Koh Samui over Vietnam if you are after a beach/pool side holiday. It's also a short flight from Bangkok.

In Koh Samui we stayed in a villa that we found on http://www.samuiluxuryvillas.com someone else may be able to suggest an actual resort if that's what you're after. We were able to order grocery shopping online so we didn't need to go shopping right away and also had a chef come in to cook last night I we wanted to stay in. I can tell you the place we stayed if you want more details, it was a 5 bedroom villa.

If you are thinking Vietnam, we stay at the Nam Hai in Hoi Ann, which is in the middle of the country. I think that Vietnam is more of a backpack/adventure/travel the whole country kind of holiday.

Tongsai Bay is lovely! No swim up bar though.

Centara Beach resort Koh Samui and Centara beach resort Krabi. I've been to both and they are fantastic. I've been back to the Koh Samui one 3 times and highly recommend it. The beach is a great swimming beach, there is a swim up bar. Good location too. I've recommended to a few friends and they love it too.
