Ooh me too! First time back at "school" in about a decade. Where are you buying your text books? I've shopped around and the Uni co-ops seem pretty exxy - think I'll go with book depository.

I would have a notebook for each subject, plus a plastic envelope to store loose sheets. Also, a few pens. I am a minimalist, you may find that is not enough! A stapler is often useful.

Make sure you have a good read over of your unit outlines before the semester starts, so you know what is expected of you and what books you may need to buy etc. (though the required books will often be in the closed reserved section of the library if you find them too expensive).

Also, be sure to print off your lecture notes before each lecture.

I like to bring my iPad to each lecture, I find it a really useful study tool. Definitely not a necessity, though.

Good luck you should find out a heap more useful info at orientation week.

Myself after years of study and work, I'm back into it in a few weeks..

    My best suggestion would be:

Print out outlines, make calander mark out when things are due, print off readings, try to become familiar with referencing.
Also- check for census dates. These are the dates that allow you to drop or withdraw your subjects with out failing and being charged.

Uni is hard, consuming, frustrating and annoying....
    Good luck

I use this to find the cheapest place for textbooks. Plug in the ISBN and it searches across stores both in Aus and overseas as well as eBay.
Gives you the best opportunity to save money on texts.

A normal exercise book for each subject, plenty of pens and depending on subject a ruler and lead pencil. That's all I take. Go to lectures if you can instead of relying only online cause its so much more motivating in the lecture

Oh for textbooks, I found first years really don't need them (well I didn't lol) lecture and tutorial material is usually enough but the uni library has copies too

I thought o week was before semesters start, but anyway go to it and find the booth that has semester planners. They are the best thing to have on your wall to write down assessment due dates. My uni gives out free year diaries (not sure if all do) but I never looked at mine last year haha.
