Hi there everyone. I just registered on here today and can't believe I found such a perfect thread here :-)
We just got married in November (not 4 mths yet) and want to start ttc in a couple of months as we are both a bit "older" when it comes to ttc and I have been on Blackmores Conceive Well Gold for just over a month.

Welcome to the newbies. Can I ask what Elevit is?
I am hesitant about making a pre-pregnancy check up with my GP. But others here have done it. Is it a normal sort of thing to do? Or do the doctors just think it is over the top preparation?

Elevit is one of the many pre conception vitamins that you can take.
I haven't taken it as I take the Blackmores one.
They both contain the folic acid and other ingredients that are important for prior to conceiving.
I am on a HUGE learning curve with it all

Hey NomieTee - Elevit is a prenatal vitamin that has about 20 different vitamins in it (including folate). There are other brands out there but this was what my Dr recommended.

At the Dr's I got all my vaccination immunities tested (MMR, chicken pox, whooping cough etc) and Iron tested, cholesterol, Vit D, B12 and a few other things - 5 vials of blood worth! It was worth it as I have discovered some deficiencies that can affect fertility.

I guess I was proactive and asked to test my immunities as we are planning to TTC later this year, the Dr suggested doing a whole work up as she said it was best to do it now. I'm also around 10 yrs older than you do perhaps that is why Dr suggested everything?

I think you have to wait for a month or two after you get vaccinations to TTC, so you need to think about that and if that puts your timeline back. I'm also going to the dentist as well as teeth issues can be difficult to deal with during pregnancy.

You should do what's best for you, I'm a planner so like getting everything prepared before I start something, but that's just me

Yes, I have also had the pre pregnancy blood tests that my Dr recommended, and will have pre preg exam when I have my regular pap smear in April (something which is also recommended prior to ttc)

I work at a dental practice so will be having my next check up prior to getting busy

Just had my pre pregnancy checkup up a few days ago and the doctor didn't think it was over the top or anything. She just did a blood test, checkup and a Pap smear (was due). When they check your blood they make sure you are fully immunized. She also gave advise on any vitamins to take and temping etc. I had no idea you should have a pre pregnancy checkup but all my friends who have had kids said to do it. Seems pretty common now.

Am trying to focus on healthy eating, losing a few kgs and getting my periods back in order after 10 years.

So far I have gotten my immunity tested and gotten whooping cough and other vaccinations. Now just have to wait!
Welcome , I had been on the pill about 6 years and had my implants in for 4 years so I know what you mean by trying to get you body back together, it has taken me a while. On the right track by starting your pre conception vitamins. So glad I am up to date with all my immunisations, have told DF he needs to get done before we have a baby so in the next few months he has to go see a gp lol.

Welcome This is a great place when you are just in the waiting stages. The year is going by so fast July will be here before you know it. Its hard to think April is only a few short weeks away now so exciting.

Hey Stacey, do you mind if I ask how old you are? I'm 25 and just wondering if that's considered "young" - thanks!
