I was wondering if anyone here had considered home schooling their child with autism? It's some thing that I keep returning to in my mind.
If I could find a great school with great teachers for my son then that would be ideal but I keep wondering - what if there's nothing good in the area for him? I think sending him to a bad school - teachers who aren't engaged with him, bullying kids etc - would be worse for him in the long term than educating him myself, at least for the first couple of years. I could still provide socialisation through music/art/drama/martial arts groups and his OT and at least he wouldn't be subject to lunch time bullying - quality over quantity.
It's all very early days - I haven't even talked to any of the local school yet. I was just wondering if any one had thought about/done this?
