Default Step by step when I find out that I am Positive Pregnant ??

    Hello Everyone,

I am new to this group , and I am not even pregnant yet.
My husband and I are planning to have a baby anytime soon , I am an Indonesian and Being a new comer in Perth I am not familiar at all with how things are here about Pregnancy system.

A friend of ours just had their baby born last October at Mercy Hospital , she did explain to me a little bit about booking an Obstetrician as soon as I find out that I am positive pregnant, then go to GP to get referral letter.

Can someone help me out to make a step by step on things I need to do as soon as I find out that I am positive pregnant ?

    Cheers,
    AuBoo

Hi do you have Medicare and private health insurance? If so than yep you'll need to sort out what kind of care you want, midwife or OB led, both have pros and cons. Than a trip to the GP for a referral to your chosen OB or if you want midwifery led care than you need to sort out what type -private, community, birth center or in a public hospital.

If you know what private hospital you want to go to than you can call them to ask which OBs services that hospital.

Hi , thanks for your respond. I forgot to mention that I already have medicare and HBF health insurance with maternity cover and I have passed the waiting period which is 12 months to use the maternity cover. We are planning to use Mercy hospital in Mt Lawley, I will do more research on it. Thanks again

If you go to the Mercy website there is a section called 'Having a baby at Mercy'. Under that section is a link to all the OBs that deliver there. You can ask around, ask your GP, do some research on the web as to who you would like to see. It's a good idea to do this prior to getting pregnant as they generally book up pretty quickly.
