    I did akins a bit back and lost 20 pounds in about 6 weeks then stopped I loved it because I love eggs, bacon and beef jerky which is what I ate rather than chips. I didnt cut out soda but that would have prob allowed me to loose more. I plan to start that up again but make some changes in the diet a bit with adding fruit and veggies more often havent really thought it out yet but guess I better get on that.

    Default Atkins Diet? Has anyone done it?

    I know people who did it and each lost 20 kgs in a short time. It sounds like a good diet but I would hate it as I don't eat or hardly eat a lot of the foods on there.

    Hey Starflame,

    I don't believe in cutting out an entire food group, but I did this diet while TTC and I lost 6kgs in two weeks. It doesn't get rid of carbs completely, just cuts down on them a lot.

    Thank you! I may just try this and see how I go! Did you exercise while you were doing it?

    Don't know about others but I did a 40min power walk at least 4 times per week when I did it.

    In the end I stopped that though as was always light headed/dizzy.

    Not much. I walked the dog, so probably 20 minutes three or four times a week, but certainly nothing serious! I felt really good while doing it - I would have kept it up except I got UTD and *needed* carbs with every meal!

    I've just started atkins yesterday on the advice of my doctor. He said to try a low carb diet as I am already walking up to 5hrs a week and counting calories and tried shakes and nothing has worked (I rapidly put on alot of weight last yr due to a medication).
    I'm feeling positive about it working and being able to stick to the plan. I have between 17-27 kg to lose as my bmi is 32.

    I've already lost 1.1kg since starting on Saturday with no exercise (I've got a bad cough and stuck in the house, but I still have my appetite).

    I'm really pleased with that!! Kept my carbs under 20g's for the past 2 days but my calorie intake yesterday was normal (not low calorie) at close to 2000 calories.

    This sounds like the best idea pre pregnancy I was doing a low carb diet teamed with exercise I lost 6kg then fell pregnant which out a stop to it lol I would recommend carbs at breakfast then none with lunch or dinner if you can handle it. Lots of veges (broccoli is quite filling) to replace the carbs you aren't eating.

    Another update. Onto day 4 and I've now lost 1.6kg total. So happy!! I feel less bloated and at no point have i been hungry so far (and I normally get ravenous on diets).
    I will say A LOT of prep and cooking is involved. As you are not eating any packaged processed goods you have to do a lot of chopping and cooking. It might be hard if you work long hours or have kids annoying you at home.

    Yesterday I made a mushroom and cheese 2 egg omelette for breakfast, cauliflower, turnip and bacon soup for lunch and Asian chicken stirfry for dinner.
    Spent a lot of time dicing up salad veg and portioning meats into zip bags to save time on other days.

    I'm using the Calorie King iPhone app to keep track of everything. Very very useful. I recommend it if you want to keep a diary of what you eat, very comprehensive database of food and products to search from, most Aussie things are in it.
