    Default Recipes with fresh strawberries

I couldn't go past the tray of fresh strawberries at our fruit market for $6. There are 15 punnets in total ( 14 now I have already demolished one).
I plan to make strawberry jam with a lot of them. Homemade jam is so much nicer than store bought IMO.
If anyone has any other ideas/recipes using strawberries I would love to hear them.

Ooh yum. Do you have a recipe you use? Otherwise I might google and see what I can find.

    Smoothies!
When we buy lots of strawberries, we chop them up and freeze them in portions in ziplock bags. They are great to use frozen in strawberries as it keeps the drink cooler for longer.

Scones with cream and fresh strawberries :-)

Oh strawberry sauce that you can use on ice cream and such.

    Default Recipes with fresh strawberries

I am definitely planning to make scones to go with the strawberry jam. Yum.
Strawberry muffins were on the list as DD loves to help cook.
I will put a couple of punnets in the freezer.
DH has suggested a strawberry topping, like for ice cream but I'm not sure how to make that.
Usually I would add some alcohol, flombay(sp?) and eat them by the bucket load. Strawberries love alcohol but being pregnant means that's not an option this time.

If you want to freeze some, I'd recommend transferring to zip lock bags after you have chopped them (or taken the stem off at least).

I agree with the smoothies and sorbet ideas. Do you have a blender? I have done sorbet in my thermomix, but sure you could mimic this in a good blender - google some recipes!

Homemade jam is awesome - but does use a lot of strawberries, so maybe do this first and see how many are left over?
