    Probably prudent to remember that like all 'reality tv' a large portion of it is likely scripted to encourage reactions from the audience.

    Yeh I did see that episode and thought it an odd setup. Wonder why the couple had kids really.

    My mum put us first when we were younger but as soon as she met her new bf he now comes first. My siblings are still little and live at home but its what she and him want the the kids as an after thought. I don't even figure in the picture anymore!
    In our house my hubby and dog come first. I have always told DH that kids will come first when we have them. Hinges children is a purely selfish endeavour in my eyes so they should then come first.

    I watched that ep too. Felt sorry for the younger daughter, crying at the end of the ep because she clearly wants more time with her mum. Mum was on her 3rd or 4th marriage too; I don't think her husband was the kid's bio dad...

    Here, we try to balance. No good burning out, the kids will suffer anyway. But on the other hand small children sort of have to come first, it's just how it works out.
    I will encourage independence when they are older but not at the expense of spending time with them.
