Default Re: Child Support TO BE OR NOT TO BE?

If I was in this position I would not be claiming child support as the money would not be worth the hassle of dealing with a resentful FOB.

Also I would not be putting the FOB on the birth certificate as I would not want the hassle of needing his consent for passport, serious medical treatment etc

Wouldn't it mean having to lie to authorities to achieve this?

That's a highly unlikely scenario though. At the very least someone in that position would most likely be on Newstart.

Well maybe but not always, if they have someone to support them and they dont go on benefits then it can be 0 then you have just done it for nothing and possibly cause yourself a lot of stress. Then there are ones who simply dont pay so your FTB go down because your suppose to get CS but he doesnt pay, then there are those that only want to see the kid because it lowers CS just seems CS is a big headache if you can avoid filing for it.

If he is on the dole you will get payments I think its about 107 a month but no you dont have to put him on the birth certificate or name him there are ways around it and only you can decide what is best for you

CSA have a number of options to collect money from non-payers. They can take it out of his tax return, garnish his wages, basically take it before he gets it.
