I think it sounds confusing to be honest, particularly the fact that there is supposed to be 1 bead per day of cycle. My AF doesn't go for 5 days. More like 7. My cycles are regular but always a different number of days, they've never been a consistent number of days. The last thing I would want as a teen would be to think that there was something wrong with me because I didn't match the "standard" cycle.

LOL - They are not always worn as a bracelet as such, but of course can be.

The idea for DD was more to construct one as part of teaching about the cycle.

I would probably wear one but I wouldn't go around saying 'hey look at my period pearls!' or anything

However, it annoys me that it is based on the 28 day cycle, when my cycles are more like 32, with ovulation around day 20 so it just wouldn't work for me. The longer I spent TTC the more I realised that my 'abnormal' cycle wasn't all that uncommon after all. It would be good if you could have them personalised I guess

Yes, this. I am happy to teach my daughter about the facts and not shame or taboo the female cycle. However I dislike the idea of wearing it out loud as such...

Fact is, alot of woman do consider having their period as gross and something you keep secret. I know I am one of them. I would be horrified if my mum wanted me to sit down and make a bracelet based on my cycle. No thanks mum...cant we just sit down and watch a soapie together and gossip about that or something?

Kudos for being open and embracing of the natural 'flow' of things but its definitely not for everyone.

    Default Menstral Bracelets?

I don't think I'd like my daughter to know the ins and outs of when you can make a baby until she is old enough and ready to TTC herself. While I know the information is readily available on the Internet, I'd hope she wouldn't be interested in looking it up and relying on ovulation times as a method of contraception. While I'm all for her being educated and aware of her body, I'd hate for her to be misinformed and have to deal with an unwanted pregnancy of STI.
