Default First post, needing advice - azoospermia

Hi, first time poster here ✋
Posting as I am at a loss
TTC not even a year but got on the investigation bandwagon early
Myself (28) diagnosed anovulation - FS confident he can easily work with this, however...
DH (30) has either azoospermia or severe oligospermia (they seen 3 immotile, abnormal morphology in his second SA)
he has a FSH level of 29 with normal LH and testosterone.
This is all fresh, only happened yesterday but FS basically said nothing to be done, spoke about the open testi surgery to look for sperm but advised against it.
I believe he was talking about micro-TESE.
    1. Does anyone have any experience with azoospermia, high FSH and micro-TESE?

    2. Which specialist would you recommend?
We are in QLD but will travel.

    TIA, needofhope

Hi @needofhope, and hugs. I'm sorry to hear you're in this situation but you aren't alone - there are quite a few couples on BubHub with lots of experience in this area. I'll tag you on the thread we use most.
My DH has azoospermia with all normal hormone levels and nothing else detectably wrong, so we went down the mTESE path then moved onto donor sperm. My best advice is to start gathering information and take things one step at a time. It's incredibly overwhelming when you're just finding out your options, so for now concentrate on what they are. And look after each other.

@needofhope: So sorry to hear about this. It is such a shock to hear such news. Hugs. I am not sure if you are still active on the forum. You can pop over to the azoo thread as pointed out by littlesunflower. Most of us have all gone down the mTESE path with a few waiting to do it + a male poster who is more into experiment with the drugs. From your description, your DH doesn't have "zero" sperm count. Do you know if it is obstructive? If it is obstructive, you don't need mTESE. He just needs TESA (aspiration with local aneasthetic). High FSH normally indicates testicular failure. The older you get, the worser it will be.

There are a few surgeon in QLD. If you can tell us where exactly in QLD, we can point you to the right Dr.

Thanks for your replies. From what i have gathered he is likely NOA with the high FSH, however it would be nice to atleast try and find a cause before going down any alternative routes. We are in South East Queensland! Can someone please tag the active azoospermia page so i can head on over?
    Cheers ☺
