    Default Having wisdom teeth out?

Just wanting to hear stories of other people who have had their wisdom teeth out, I am freaking out a little about the pain and GA and would love to hear others experiences, I am booked in to have all 4 out next Thursday.

I had all mine out at 17. You will be sedated for around 30mins and will not remember. As soon as the pain releif starts to wear off, take next lot of tablets. Your cheeks will be very swollen for a few days and the disolvable stitchs will fall out within a week. The pain probably wonr be around for more than 24hours

    Default Having wisdom teeth out?

I had all 4 out under GA in hospital after i had put it off for about 10years due to fear. All the worry i had was totally unwarranted, i had only very minor bruising, i only had panadol for a few days but nothing after that.

I had all 4 taken out - the bottom two were impacted (growing sideways into my other teeth) so they had to do some digging to get them out. I couldn't feel anything when I woke up and was really spaced out with the drugs for a few hours. I had minimal bruising and a bit of swelling for about a week I think.

Keep the painkillers up, don't let them wear off too much. Be prepared to be a bit out of it for a couple of days.

Thanks for your replies, my bottom 2 are impacted also so the surgeon said he will need to do a little digging to get to them the top ones are half way through but also causing a lot of pain. I suppose the pain I've had to put up with over the last few weeks would be similar to the pain after surgery, luckily my dad is taking the day off work to take me there and home and my sister will be staying for a couple of days to help with my 19 month old.

I had all 4 out a few years ago as well as extra dental work under GA. I had minor swelling but was hardly noticeable and no facial bruising/puffiness. I was out and about the next day and didn't even take a panadol despite being prescribed panadine forte.

Good luck with the surgery & the recovery! Hopefully you'll be lucky and have minimal recovery time.

I had 2 removed and still need to have the bottom two out. They just gave me a shot of Novocaine into my gums and pulled them out. It wasnt too painful but i have a high pain tolerance so that prob helped. I was done in a jiffy and just took pain pills for a day.

    Hey Ashley
I had all mine out at once under GA. the 2 bottom ones had a bit of work to get out I can't remember how and why but I do remember I woke up fine, had no pain and was totally fine with eating by the next day or 2 I think. The whole experience was really good for me.

Another thing OP, you've had a baby and its not likely to be more painful than that!
