    Default Can you choose c-sec?

Hey I'm not sure if this is the right place but I'm very curious. I'm pretty young and only 7 weeks pregnant tomorrow so I know it's probably to early to think about it but in the public system can you choose to have a c-section? I can't afford to go private.

    Edit. I'm in qld

As far as I'm aware, no public hospital offer elective c-sections.

    Congrats on your pregnancy

Without a good reason, it can be an uphill battle in the public system. reasons can include mental health/emotional reasons, not just medical issues.

Whatever way you decided, do your research, look at the risks of a csection vs vaginal birth etc.

I had a csection at my request, but I was private.

Good luck with your choice and your pregnancy!

Were you in a private hospital or a private patient in a public hospital?

I am a private patient in a public hospital and my ob was happy to book a c-section in for me. This is precisely why I didn't go public as I was told that having an elective c-section was close to impossible.

I'm not 100% sure but I don't think you'd be offered one. Check with the hospital though as I may be wrong.
