    Default Fluoride in tap water

    For or against?

I had never really given it a thought until I moved to a part of WA that does not have fluoride added to the water.

To be honest I don't really know much about the negatives of water fluoridation but with Australia's poor dental system why wouldn't I want to help prevent tooth decay in my children?

So do you think our water should have fluoride added to it? If so do you think it actually helps?

If not, why? Are these opinions based on credible research or based on your own conclusions?

No fluoride is a toxin , in the USA they have just reduced the amount of fluoride in the drinking water - I think based on a study done in Europe - my Sister lived in Germany where they stopped fluoride in their water years ago ( same with most of Europe) so she knows more about it than I do! But we all use fluoride free toothpaste ( especially DS !)

I work in the water industry. I am for it.
Fluoride is toxic in HIGH doses-that's why it's use is regulated.

I'm all for it! It's a consintrated does used in our water. Very unlikely to cause harm

The Europeans have fluoridated salt instead. The fact it's not in their water supply has nothing to do with a perceived toxicity.

I don't really care. I know it's not exactly good for you in high doses, but I really doubt it'll do much damage.

We have a water filter, so I think it's filtered out of our water anyway, but I've spent most of my life in Qld which has only very recently added fluoride to the water anyway. I have good dental health, and it's just a question of twice daily brushing and being naturally blessed with decent teeth.

One look at the teeth of British women on "one born every minute" and Im hands down pro-fluoride!

Depending what type of filter you have, fluoride may not be removed.

I know... but I think ours does removed fluoride. DP is anti-fluoride and he was the one who chose the filter... so I'm assuming it's one that removes it. lol.
