    Mental illnesses:
    • are not always permanent
    • are often treatable, and if not
    • are often managed perfectly well
    • may or may not impact of a person's ability to parent, function in society or hold down a hjob
    • and are often misunderstood - especially by uneducated ignorant biggots
Many crimes perpetrated against children are not caused by MI

Many parents with a MI are often brilliant parents

NOBODY on my facebook would post anything like that (unless they were looking for a fight)

I think that person has a very shallow view of mental illness...probably thinking of the more sever cases. My sister has PND, she has inflicted terrible things upon her eldest child, and we have all worked hard within the family to help them through it. Taking children away should be a last resort thing anyway..kids should be able to have that relationship with their parents. Parents need support, not condemnation. I mean, yes, we may all have points where we say omg, you suck as a parent, blah blah, but really we should say, you look like you are struggling, I know being a parent is very hard, what can we do (as a society) to help you out?

There are too many variables for her to make such a blanket statement about parents. She clearly doesn't understand mental illness and how many different spectrums there are.

If it's for real.. of course they shouldn't be taken away from them. There are all sorts of mental illnesses.. some minor.. some major... Parents with Mental illnesses need help not people taking their kids away from them.

Maybe we should just invent a robot to raise all the children so that way none of them will be screwed up by humans and their faults.

Don't forget robots to actually conceive and birth the babies as well... then people would have nothing to complain about.

I know someone that this happened too. It was so so horrible for her the kids were eventually returned but I'm sure it was still very damaging.

I think that the FB friend is a total w@nker.

MI does not make you an unsafe parent. Making a statement like that shows how pathetic and uneducated the person is.

LMF, if someone on my FB dared write such rubbish, the delete friend button would be hit at lightening speed. I have no time for stupid ignorant people.
