Default Christmas is coming....what's your special 'tradition'

For those who celebrate this holiday what's your special family tradition, that makes your kids day?

At our house we have a special xmas eve dinner, watch some movies together then read 'twas the night before xmas and they go to bed early. Santa leaves a trail of goodies (over the years we've incorporated fruit into this trail ) from DD's bed to the lounge where the pressies from Santa are they dig in. Then we go to the tree and exchange gifts.
We're all very excited as this will the be DS's first Christmas where it won't be all about the gift wrapping and boxes oh and hopefully he doesn't eat the treats with the wrappers still on!

Does 'start drinking at breakfast' count as a tradition?

We have lots of Christmas traditions but the one the kids like the best is that on the first weekend of the holidays we head to Myer or David Jones and each of our kids thoughtfully picks out a decoration to buy - over the years we have amassed a lovely collection of beautiful decorations that have so much meaning for our kids - and they love getting them all out in December and revisiting with them all again (lots of ohhhh and ahhhhs and "remember when" conversations, I love it) and we hang them on the tree.

And at the top of our tree is the angel that I picked out when I was 5

Usually we go to my parents for a big Christmas dinner. But this year we are changing tradition and going to durien bay for a beach holiday which I am super excited for. A new adventure with my own little family!

We too have lots of little traditions. We all decorate the tree and house on the 1st and have a special dinner that night and watch a Christmas Movie. Every night in December we have a beautiful table centrepiece that has candles in it and it gets lit every night for dinner. We leave carrots, milk, water and biscuits out for Santa and the reindeers Christmas Eve...

    Oooooohhhhhh I love Christmas!!!!

Unfortunately the most notable seems to be giving birth, as I have a child born 19th dec, another on 25th dec and due this year on the 17th!

We make bikkies for Santa. One year we layed them out on the kids table with a beer all ready for Santa and went to wave goodbye to my Mum. Our dog ate the bikkies, so Santa had to make do with some scotch fingers. I'm sure the dog would like to continue this each year!

Dinner with the step family Xmas eve, then sleep at mum and stepdads house. We each put our father Christmas sack out before bed (we each have one from our first Christmas) then they 'magically' get filled.

We always have lunch at grandparents, and as everyday I get a board game, we get that our before lunch. After lunch and dessert we also have Swiss glory truffles-my fav!
