Hi there ladies
I was just wondering if any of you ladies havetried picsi with any of your cycles. Ihave unexplained infertility and DH has pretty good swimmers. I have had 3 fullivf cycles and all bfns, fertilisation rates aren’t too bad. But Iam seriously considering of doing picsiwith my next cycle (rather than standard icsi) just too give every egg a betterchance as I have an amh 5, I don’t yield many eggs and never havefrosties. So I would love to get somefeedback positive or negative with your icsi/picsi cycles. Also is there anyone who has decided to do orhas done icsi/picsi but don’t have male problems?

ICSI/PICSI Success..
We had 5 cycles and on the fifth tried PICSI for the first time and it worked. Unfortunately lost our twins. PICSI picks up the best swimmers rather than the embryologist choosing the sperm with their eye (ICSI). We have unexplained infertility.

ICSI/PICSI Success..
Thanks ann, we lost two beautiful babies we longed for so much...life is so cruel sometimes. We have to focus on the future in the hope that we will have a third and fourth baby, will never forget our first two. If we have to go down the IVF road I wouldn't bother with natural fertilisation. PICSI seems to take out some of the chance. Hope this helps you.

Hi Ann, I've never heard of picsi before but may ask our fs about it for our next cycle. We've been through 2 full icsi cycles and a couple of FET cycles with no luck yet (although we do have a beautiful daughter as a result of icsi but unfortunately we aren't having the same successes this time round). My hubby has low sperm count and quality thanks to crohn's disease and all the meds he's on to control that. As far as we know all is fine from my side of things. But if it only costs an extra $100 or so and has potential to get better results I say do it! :-) Best of luck with it all, and thanks for the info as I'd never heard of picsi before.
Also Rachael I also wanted to pass on big hugs to you too. Life is terribly unfair sometimes, my thoughts go out to you and your family for your recent loss, such sad news, makes me all teary for you. My very best wishes to you that your dreams come true very soon xxx

Hi Tessagirl
I have some info on PICSI but if you goolge it you will find lots of info on it.
During ICSI, sperm are selected for injection on the basis of their shape (morphology) and motility. However, this visual approach does not necessarily reflect the functionality of the sperm and its ability to fertilize an oocyte (egg). The PICSI dish provides a functional test for sperm to aid the embryologist’s selection for ICSI. The test is based on the ability of sperm to bind to hyaluronan hydrogel mimicking the natural binding of mature sperm to oocytes (eggs) in the female.
The PICSI dish is a polystyrene culture dish with three microdots of hyaluronan attached to the bottom of its interior. The dish is sterile, and non-toxic to embryos and is used as an additional step in the selection of sperm for ICSI.
So you see rather than the embryologist selecting the sperm visually which they think looks good, the PICSI dish makes it more easier to select sperm that binds to the egg.
I did some reading on the Colorado Protocol as well (there's a thread here on this Forum, although I am not part of it), which got me interested. So I think I will be talking to my FS re PICSI and that protocol. Any of you lovely ladies out there who has given this ago or thinking of?
Hey butterfli thanks for your reply.

Thanks for the info Ann. I mentioned picsi to one of the nurses at the clinic that I'm seeing and she advised me that she doesn't think they offer picsi :-( I have my next consent signing appointment next week but in the meantime I might email my specialist to see if she can offer any insight. Definitely sounds like it could be useful in our situation. Hope someone experienced with this process can help you out, I'd be interested in hearing from others about the pros and cons too. Best of luck with your next cycle
