I actually have a few lovely lady friends at ACU who are doing nursing midwivery. I can pass along your emails or details if you like. I was going to have one come along but since have started to feel a bit different that I originally did.

If its your thing I am happy to help you make contact. They are all 2nd year students.

Default Tell me about student midwives

I had an unwanted, unplanned caesarean after failing to go into labour or respond to induction. I was 19 and I think they knew I was a bit down about the caesarean and so attached a student midwife to me after my csec.

    She was seriously brilliant.

I didn't like her at first cos she was young and very attractive.., and I was this beached whale... But she was with me for what seemed like everyday and night, and spent so much time organising lactation consultants for me and helping me wit DD and feeding and such. She was just beautiful.

Default Tell me about student midwives

I had a student midwife follow me through my pregnancy and she was there for the birth of DD. she was great! She helped when the doc freaked me out by starting to talk about having to have a c section etc... She got to the hospital an hour or 2 after we did and she was the one who delivered my gorgeous girl (completely naturally I might add!!). She stayed on and did all of DDs checks etc and came back in the days after to see how we were going. We're still in contact now nearly 8 months later For me it was great just having the continuity of one face as we did shared care between my GP and the hospital. So I'd highly recommend having one (or a student doula if you want someone completely focused on you).

    Good luck!!

As a student midwife I would just like to say how wonderful it is to read all this feedback and see that it is mostly positive. Thank you everyone for supporting the next generation of midwives by allowing them to follow your journeys!
