Default Facebook - is the only way to stop seeing someones posts is to de-friend them?

Okay...I have a facebook account that i barely use but go on every now and to touch base with some friends. One 'friend' has so many inane useless comments or posts its just boring. She just posted a pic of an abortion pic aksing to 'like' if you are against abortion or just ignore if you are for it. Kinda hard to ignore when the pic is in your face.

So thats the last straw for me....is there a way to switch off her comments or do I need to defriend her?

(I am reluctant to defriend as she has depression issues and we have a few mutual friends that I would prefer not to cause hassles for).

    TIA

If you go to her page, click on the 'friend' button a drop down list will appear. Untick the 'show in newsfeed' option.

Now you won't get her updates, but will still be her friend

Go to her page and I think where it says 'friend' you can click and a drop down menu will appear. You then untick 'show in news feed' and then nothing she posts will come up in your feed.

I too was at my wits end with a FB friend yesterday and was trying to work out the exact same thing. I ended up posting a link to a news article about a leukaemia sufferer who died because she was refused an abortion. Funny. She never clicked to like it.
