Default Women dies after being refused termination

    http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/...326575203.html

How horrible for this women's family I hope this could never happen in Australia... though I know of a Catholic public hospital referring patients to a different hospital for termination due to incompatible with life anomalies/syndromes being found at the 20 week scan but hopefully they would step in in a situation like this....

    I read this on Facebook.

I already knew abortion laws in Ireland as my husband is from there.

    Disgusting.

And this is one of the many reasons I am pro choice.

Some pro life people forget that taking away the choice can ultimately lead to the death of the mother. Without choice people die.without choice even medically necessary terminations would not be allowed.even if medically necessary terminations were allowed without choice for all the stigma attached to any form of termination would cause some people to forego one so they don't get labelled a baby killer. And yes I knew a catholic mum of 1 with another on the way who had to make this decision. Her baby or her life. She found it very difficult to go against her upbringing and terminate and very nearly didn't. unfortunately though too little too late for her. Rip

I'm disgusted that this can happen in this day and age anywhere.

I cant even begin to imagine what this poor young woman went through . What a tragic loss.

    That's just revolting.

The fact that she asked, that she begged, for a termination... not because she didn't want the baby, but because the baby was killing her... and was refused is abhorrent.

    It's tragically ironic.

In a bid to be pro-life for q foetus, a life of an adult woman was taken.

    So sad, her poor family

The ridiculous part of it the "pro-life" argument was that she was already obviously miscarrying - cervix dilated, amniotic fluid leaking and only 17 weeks. That poor baby was never going to make to 23 weeks (viable for delivery) let alone full term.
