Do you kiss your kids on the mouth?

I didn't think I would but my kids are lip kisses. They smooch each other on the lips too. Naw.

Jasper does the big lip pucker MMMMMMWAH! hands on my cheeks pull my face to his to say bye at daycare if I'm lucky. I think it's lovely. I gave up trying to make him kiss my cheek a couple of years ago. Ha.

Katelyn just noms still because she's 8 months old so I try not to let her get my lips cos she's so slobbery!!!

I didn't even realize that it was an issue... I must be hiding my head in the sand or something.
I kiss my boys on the mouth, cheek, forehead - they kiss me mainly on the mouth. Same with daddy! They also kiss their grandparents, aunties and uncles the same. I really don't understand why it's weird? It's a way of showing affection and both of my children are such smoochers that I would never think twice about kissing them.
The only time I'm hesitant is if I'm sick and I have to fully explain I'm sick otherwise they get sad.
I love how affectionate they are.
I grew up with kisses as did DH so neither of us have ever found it "weird or strange to kiss our own children!" I actually find it weird if you don't!

So yes it can be 'germy'. But I don't find it inappropriate or creepy or whatever.

No it's gross and creeps me out when I see people doing it.

- Lips are germ ridden. For example, when was the last time your kid (or you?) did the old pick the nose and eat it?
- kissing on the lips invades personal boundaries. In our society it's a thing between lovers. If an adult friend tried to kiss me on the lips I'd job them one. I know your kid is your kid but the personal adult boundary still applies.

We kiss ours on the lips and they kiss the people they love on the lips. It takes a lot for my kids to give that kind of affection, so they aren't kissing randoms on the lips (aside from the pretty girl in my son's class).

I don't recall kissing my parents on the lips, but DH kisses his mum and sisters on the lips.

If they had an open mouth it'd be inappropriate, as it is, it's just a display of affection.

I wonder what other reasons people object for other than spreading all these diseases?

The personal adult boundary might apply to you and your family but it doesn't apply to ours, I kiss my dd on the lips all the time and I don't care what anyone else thinks but I'm certainly not going to listen to someone harping on to me about adult boundaries when it comes to my child. I make those decisions.
