My mum lives two states away. We talk occasionally, sometimes more. But we can't live together. I moved out when I was 13 to live with dad. We are quite similar and after a few days together things become quite strained. I was always a little jealous of those with mothers who were best friends.
However, My dad is one of my best friends, one of the most genuine and amazing people in the world. Sadly he lives in another state.
My Nanna is more like my mum, she is always there for me, lives close and her and Granddad are always there to help. I would be lost without them.
