Default Christmas hampers eg Castle, Crisco Love them or hate them?

I have a strong opinion on them and wanted to hear what other people thought.

Do you love them or hate them?

    Have you ever ordered one?

what did you think of it when you got it?

Do you think they helped you?

Any extra info you wanted to add.

I got chrisco once. I think they're very expensive overall. I had no issues with the actual hampers though I've heard others have, ie expired or short dated foods etc

I am not interested in them. I do like the idea of being able to pay things off to spread the cost but there is sooo much stuff in the various hampers that I would never buy it just seems like a waste of precious christmas money. My local IGA has a christmas club that you just pay into over the year and spend it on your christmas groceries (I think you can also spend it on gift cards they sell in store ie itunes, prepaid visa, country road). I think I will do this next year.

I have looke at them out of interest. Everything seems based on the rrp. So for example allens lollies $3.23. When you can get them on special for $1.99.
I think you are better off putting aside say $5 a week then shopping the specials in the lead up to christmas.
Plus you may not use or need everything in the hamper

I looked at doing it one year, but there was just soo so much rubbish in them that we would never use it seemed to be a waste of money.

I think it's a great idea, but in practice it's not very practical at all.

I do, however, really like that IGA account idea. That is something I could see myself using.

Never been interested in them but a friend bought one once and said some of the products were missing and some had short expiry dates.

I've only bought the alcohol hampers and goods such as toys for the kids, a camera, iPod, Wii etc.

I think they are expensive but if you're like me and rubbish at saving money then they're ok.

I bought towels , bunk beds and a pirate fort this year, the bunks they refunded me on after telling me that they didnt comply with Australian safety standards... Won't buy furniture of any kind off them any more... But the towels are nice and have yet to get the pirate fort (the fort is the same price as the my layby site)
