Sounds romantic in theory, but in reality it would have disasterous and deadly consequences.
For rape cases I agree. For every other circumstance I say the woman should take responsibility for not falling pregnant in the first place.

You talk about disastrous and deadly consequences... That's abortion.. The outcome of women not taking responsibility.

No it's not BS. Bringing a baby into an abusive relationship? Best for the baby? Bringing a baby into a family with 7 kids, who the family can't afford to feed as it is? Best for the baby?

Just because in your view a baby is better off being born into a miserable life than not being born at all doesn't make it so.

(ETA: not saying at all that babies born into abusive relationships would have been better off terminated! Just saying that IF a woman makes a decision to terminate rather than bring the baby into an abusive relationship, then that is a decision based primarily on what is best for the baby, not her)

I have read of members right here who have fallen pregnant with an IUD! How can you get any more 'responsible' than that?

anyway, it would never work. Rape is one of the most underreported and under convicted crimes there is. If you want to reduce termination rates, we need to work on better conditions before changing laws and handing out punishments.

Its not a baby it's a foetus, that cannot survive outside the mothers body. Terminating a pregnancy is not 'killing a baby'.

I believe it is a baby, but I am still pro choice! No way would I ever force a woman to carry an unwanted child!

Exactly the same. It's a baby from the beginning for me, albeit a small undeveloped one. I also would never want to force a woman to continue with a pg she didn't want.

Sure - I didn't mean to offend anyone by saying it isn't a baby.. I just mean medically speaking it is a foetus and not fully developed yet which is why abortions occur during the first 12 weeks (and not normally after the brain and spinal cord have developed). I found vic parks accusation of 'killing a baby' crude and inaccurate. Anyway yes it was probably a poor choice of words on my part :/

That is your personal opinion. In my opinion if it has a heart beat it is a baby. And using terms such as 'fetus' only serve to make a mother feel more comfortable about a decision to abort by creating a distance with the realities of what they are doing.

Would you tell a mother who miscarried a much wanted bub at 8,10,12 weeks to get over it because it was a fetus not a baby?

We can't say a wanted being is a baby and an unwanted being is a lump of cells, a fetus.

While I don't agree with VicPark's opinions she does see it is as baby and that's fine. Just as it's fine you consider it a foetus. At 12 weeks it has arms, legs a beating heart, a brain and organs. That's why many consider it a baby. But it's all subjective
