Red face hi ladies :) just have a question... or 2

can anyone e,plain temping to me or post a link to a reputable source on temping. was going to buy a heap of o tests online but we are absolutly strapped for cash atm so i cant afford to buy any for a while.

can i temp if i have not got a period yet (bf my 8 month old) to see if im o'ing.
what time of day can i temp?
what affects the temp results (after a bath etc) and do i count those or not?
when does the temp rise and drop and what should the numbers be?
i cant think of any other questions atm but im sure i have heaps more (its 2am so my brain isnt really working!!)

sorry if these questions are a bit silly.

if i have missed some important questions please, please fill me in. this is all very new to me so i have no clue.

(ps. rainbow road, you seem to know heaps about this sort of stuff, would you mind weighing in? thaanks ladies in advance for your help)

Subbing because I would like to know as well. Have been TTC for two months without success (I know that's not long) but would like to increase our chances.

I would highly recommend the book "taking charge of your fertility" it covers everything! Not even just TTC but natural family planning and TTC issues and cycles generally.

Fertility friend has a free app. I've just upgraded to the paid version but free was good too. They also have a web page

I use iPeriod for my tracking. Temping has to be done as soon as you wake up for your BBT, once you get up and move around your temp rises so it won't be accurate. Usually temps spike when you O, usually by 3 or 4 degrees

I agree with Fertility Friend, they have tutorials etc on the website too I believe.
You will need a specific basal body thermometer, got mine for about $30 from the chemist. It had instructions in it too.

I took my temp every morning before I did anything else, then recorded in the Fertility Friend app in my phone. I also needed to keep an eye out for other signs though, namely CM, so I knew when O was approaching, then the temp usually confirmed. Also, it only rises by about 0.3 or 0.4 of a degree so not much at all!

    Good luck!
