Default Medela Swing - how on earth to clean?

Help please ladies! How the heck am I supposed to clean the middle pump part (the bend with the yellow bits/holes inside it) - there's no way of accessing the inner parts. I can only run hot water through it - is this enough?

Also, how do I get the water/condensation out of the long tube part after washing it - surely it'll go moldy if I store it like that?!

To get the condensation out just run the pump with only the tube attached for a few minutes. As for the other part I just run soapy water through it.

Thanks for the reply guys. I guess I'll just try to always rinse with hot water immediately after so hopefully no milk gets dry and stuck in the body of the pump. Feels wrong not being able to actually wash/wipe it though. Hopefully the water flowing through it is enough.

I used to be able to push a few bristles on the end of my bottle cleaning brush through that hard-to-clean bit which helps to prevent the build up of milk residue.

I remember there being instructions on how to flush it properly, I had a problem with mine and they wouldn't honour the warranty unless I had followed this process.

Sorry I don't have it anymore for the instructions on how to, but there is a product help line if you don't, perhaps they could help?

The long tubing if not dried will get black molds. But it's hard to pull the yellow plastic ends out. How about hang it out in the sunshine? Maybe the condensation will evaporate.

you definitely can buy that spare part if needed.

Yes this is what I'm worried about. I tried running the pump with just the tube attached as a PP suggested but after 5 minutes there was no difference. I just don't have time to do more than that after each expressing session.

So for now I'm just running hot water through it. I figure that nothing gets from the tube into the milk anyway (I think it's possible the other way around but who cares) so hopefully won't be a problem.

I wonder if I should try some disposable pipe cleaners. I only ever think of them for arts and craft haha but maybe they could actually help to clean this part.

Hmmm I'll double check the manual/website thanks.
