So.. Does anyone feed the kids they are baby sitting up on sugar before sending them home? Similarly, had any one had their kids fed up on sugar before picking then up?
I wouldn't do it on purpose. but I have had people do that to me. Usually relatives who think it is funny. My sister thought it would be fun to give dd1 massive amounts of lollies and chocolates and junk thinking I was picking her up that day after a sleepover. Backfired on her cos I had organised for her to stay another night with my mum (sister was still living at home at the time). Dd1 ended up throwing up that night and awake till all hours.
I don't find it entertaining but I know many people who do.

Re: Baby sitting duties
Wow I think that's cruel to the poor child. I know my mum feeds my kids more junk food than I allow at home but she doesn't do it worth the intention of sending them home hypo etc.
I think that's really unfair tbh. The poor kid would have to detox from the sugar and would probably get into trouble when they can't control their behaviour because of it

I laugh at people who give my kids lots of lollies before its home time. The kids pass out within 2 minutes in the car so it doesnt bother me haha

Baby sitting duties
Who even does that?!!!
I'd think anyone who did that for a laugh is a pretty lousy babysitter.

Re: Baby sitting duties
I know so many people who do it. Most have learnt not to try it with me. I know some people who are looking forward to having grandkids so they can do this. I am dumbfounded as to why it is funny to watch a child run around hurting themselves by running into walls or doing stupid stuff cos they are out of their minds hypo, only to end up with really bad tummy cramps and vomiting and the trouble they may get into because they have so much energy they don't know what to do.
I get that it might be humerous to think about or daydream about to make a friend or relative frustrated beyond belief by making their kids be really naughty but to actually do it? No not funny in the slightest.

Re: Baby sitting duties
My DP has given his DD sugar before sending her back to her mothers, but he gets yelled at by me. Last year we had her over Christmas at his parents house, and the two of them got into a bag of lollies. They had eaten 750g between the two of them (she ate more than he did) and I took the lollies off them and made him deal with his daughter for the next 24 hrs. I told his family that it was his responsibility to look after her when she was sick. Lol. He no longer let's her have more than a few lollies when she is good. He learnt his lesson very quickly. Lol!
