interesting that some ghd's work better than others. It's a shame because they aren't cheap. i was always wondering why the hairdressers only used black ones.. and when they would do my hair it would look a million times better than when i would do it myself. don't get me wrong, it's not like i don't know how to do it myself, i have been using hair straighteners for 12/13 years , so it's not like i just started doing it or anything.

seriously feel like throwing my pink heap of crap out the window.

Default Hair straighteners... (ghd, silver bullet etc... not vidal sasson or remington)

They still sell well on eBay maybe sell it and get a straightener that's going to work well?

    Put it this way...

When I go to the hair dresser and they use their ghd's (yes, plural) I need two people and about 45ish minutes.

My corioliss at home takes me alone 45 minutes max for the same result, if not smoother.

I will never buy a GHD now

I have a turbo ion as well, I've had it for about 8-9 years. It is GREAT, I have really thick hair and it smooths it really nicely. Like Eko says- the only drawback is its not great for curling coz of the shape of the plates, but I'm a bit unco anyway so probably couldn't do it with any straightener lol! I've used friends' GHDs before and I felt they weren't quite as good and didn't 'glide' as smoothly through my hair as the turbo ion does. When the hairdresser uses them they feel ok though.

I'm quite happy with my titanium silver bullet. I have thin frizzy hair and I only have to straighten once between washes.

Cloud 9 expensive but even better than the GHD takes me 5-10mins to straighten my hair after washing it whereas it used to take me 20-30mins using a GHD. I've also had a silver bullet which is also good but it only lasted a year. I've had my cloud 9 for almost 5 years & it's still going strong (I must be one of the lucky ones, after reading the reviews that they don't last long, but I did buy mine approx 5yrs ago, hence perhaps the more recent ones are faulty)
