Hey guys just wondering if you could help me out, I'm 13w, but when I went for my scan it said the baby measured at 14w.
What do I go by? 13w or 14w?
So confused!![]()

Measuring a week ahead?

Did you know your LMP, and is that what puts you at 13 weeks? If so I would proabably just stick with that.
Often scans are going to show different dates, and the further along you get the more inaccurate the scans can be. It's my understanding that with scans, the early dating ones are the mose accurate (between 6-9ish weeks) as at that gestation all bubs are growing at the same rate. After that bubs start growing at their own rate, and the gestation estimates on scans are based on averages.
This is just my personal view, but I would also go with the 13 weeks because it would give a later EDD, and from an induction point of view this would give bub an extra week on the inside before care providers start talking about wanting to induce if you go over your EDD.Last edited by decemberbubba; 01-11-2012 at 08:29.

Measuring a week ahead?
My LO was IVF so we knew EXACTLY how far along we were but from 7 weeks onwards he measured ahead of this in scans.
Turns out he was just a big bouncing boy - 4.06 kg when born at 40+2days.
This is great news though as bigger babies tend to feed better, they have bigger tummys so can eat more which generally means they are better sleepers!! Happy family all round!
Enjoy your pregnancy - sound like you are doing a great job cooking a healthy bubba!

Re: Measuring a week ahead?
Katelyn measured ahead in ultrasounds (after the dating scan) and was born at 41 weeks according to my first due date (and 3.8kgs)

DD was an IVF baby but also measured ahead. She weighed in at 3.7kg at 38 weeks. Also missed the good sleeping memo unfortunately

I wonder if its more little babies will feed more often to catch up...?
I have super active babies so they need the energy not the weight gain. Lol..
