Default Who has PCOS and isn't on metformin?

Just wondering if it's normal practice to be on metformin if you have PCOS, cos it feels like everyone is on it apart from me!? Im thinking about asking my FS about it, but I'd he thought I needed it, I'd probably already be on it?

I'm not on it either but isn't it to do with other factors associated with PCOS that only a percentage of people have? However, don't quote me I could be completely wrong there 😀

I have PCOS & am not on metformin. My understanding was that it really only targets ovulation if you have insulin resistance and your sugar levels aren't stable..

Also believe this is true although some docs will try it anyway as it seems to have a good effect on some ppl anyway?
My bloods never came back with definite insulin resistant (very close to normal) but for some reason it seemed to make me ovulate- whilst not perfectly it was better than nothing. Call it coincidence if you like, but currently 36 weeks preg.

Default Who has PCOS and isn't on metformin?

I was on it before having my DD, then after I had her my new doctor said to go on the pill instead (to manage the PCOS symptoms). I saw an endocrinologist recently who said I can take it again after I have another baby (long story short: I want to get pregnant now so I'm going on clomid rather than start metformin). I felt better on metformin so I will take it after I have my next baby, to manage my PCOS.

Hi, this is my first time on here so bear with me lol I've had pcos for a long time, and I'm not TTC atm, but I'm sick of just masking the symptoms (acne and weight problems are my biggest) with the pill.. plus when I do go off the pill to TTC and during pregnancy my hormones are such a mess and I get bad acne. I DON'T have insulin resistance but I was thinking of giving the metformin a go... I just don't know If metformin will actually do anything for pcos if you don't have the insulin resistance?? Do any of you ladies NOT have insulin resistance but find metformin helps with general pcos symptoms? Ps Hang in there you ladies TTC, it can be frustrating, I was told I wouldn't be able to conceive naturally but here I am with two boys (took a little longer but it happened naturally
