What do people say when they miss days off work for various IVF related things like EPU?
I am keeping my IVF journey quiet, but now I am finding that I am running out of excuses for time off...My work peers are also friends- so they always ask "What's wrong?" and are all concerned and I have to try and gloss over my time off.
Oh, and not drinking alcohol or caffeine either. I blamed not drinking alcohol on a drug I am on- but now they're asking when I am stopping that drug...
I have tried to be clever about not having the caffeine... I said I was getting insomnia and was trying to sleep better.
Any new ideas? Help me out girls!!!
I need some new 'good excuses'. I am not a good liar at the best of times.
Please, share yours!

Making up Excuses during IVF...

TBH most employers I was fairly up front with. Just my big boss knew and I would let her know when I needed time off.
But with the boss I didn't tell I usually resorted to the old diarrhea or vomiting bug. Or just said I was sick and left it at that. I think once or twice I used DH or the pets as an excuse too.

Oh good, I think I'm going to need a day off work for my insemination (can't take TWO babies with me, and it'll probably be on a monday/tuesday when I look after two babies) and I don't want to say I'm sick again!!! I'm in a reasonably precarious position and I'd worry that if they knew I was TTC they'd start looking for a new nanny immediately.
Hmm I might use DP as an excuse if I need to.

I got hospitalized during our first IVF attempt for a week and DH rang and said it was women's business and that i was generally ok so he wouldn't ask. I did tell my close work colleagues though

Re caffeine and alcohol: I have a heart thingy and my dr told me not to consume caffeine. Alcohol: I just say I don't like drinking at all if I'm going to drive. I also drink lemonade with lime in it and it looks like vodka, lime and soda.

Im reading with great interest as I start IVF this week
I stopped drinking alcohol and caffeine and I told everyone for awhile I had endo & my acupuncturist told me to stop with the additives
This worked until I have lap surgery and then I had to start with something different. For those at work I just said I got used to no caffeine and for people I dont see often I say Im on antibiotics..

I thought I had glandular fever just before I started my first ivf cycle ( I didn't ) but this became the perfect excuse for me. I got my FS to write me a medical certificate to say I had a medical condition ( he put it on plain paper not on letterhead). If you have a medical certificate your employer can't question any time off and you are entitled to use your sick leave for it. Good luck!

I told a receptionist at each of the places I worked, as they were the ones who had to reschedule all my stuff when I took time off at short notice so I felt I owed it to them. Maybe tell people who are concerned about you that they needn't worry, it's not life threatening, just personal.
I don't drink, but if I were you, I'd tell people that you feel so much better while not drinking so you are going to extend the health kick

I'm struggling with this too and haven't started cycling yet... I had 2 days off for a lap and told my bosses it was endo... I think I'm going to be vague and say "a few related issues" require dr appts and some time off... Worse than my bosses is just random people at work saying "oh are you sick?" or "feeling better?" -- you feel like you need some response but I usually give a vague "yeah...". Think they think I'm a hypochondriac though!!

One thing I learnt this cycle: when I went for EPU I said I was having a minor procedure of a female nature but "I might need a follow up some time this week"- LOL like an embryo transfer! Haa haa haa
