If money isn't a issue I'd recommend getting them installed in the back of the headrest. I have ones that clip on the headrests and they are good (don't know brand) but there are cords everywhere! Next year ill get ones installed in the headrest.

We have a cheapie Base brand one from Target.
It does everything we want it to and puts up with a beating Fromm lil miss 3.
It was $79.
The screen swivels around and folds so it attached to the car seat headrest like a tablet.

I guess it depends if you just want a dedicated DVD player for the car only, but if you can afford it, get a netbook (the mini-laptops).
They can play DVDs but also computer games, music etc and will last a lot longer than the portable DVD players.
We bought a portable DVD player and it broke within 6mths (it was the Base Target brand as well) so when we replaced it we got an acer netbook and that is still going strong 2yrs later.
