Super Amart is good for cheap packages. I bought a dining table, lamp table, coffee table and tv stand package for $300 4 years ago and it's all still going strong apart from the dining chairs that my psycho ex smashed up. I bought my bed from there in 2005 and it's still going good.
I would avoid fantastic furniture at all cost. It's such cheap rubbish. I bought a heap of new furniture from there last year and it all started falling apart within months.
Kitchen packages and most kitchen related things can be bought at kmart for very cheap. If you want better quality and Target is having a sale they can be good.
Ikea is worth checking out for most thing if you have one locally.
