Default Did your contractions got stronger when your waters broke?

When I had DS, the doctors broke my waters before I had any contractions, it didnt hurt and didnt made any progress or difference.

But I have heard and read a lot of stories about people having their waters broken manually and how it hurt so bad and made the contractions a lot stronger and before the waters were broken.

What was your experience? Did your waters break before any contractions or was it broken manually and did it hurt or made your contractions stronger?

    Thanks!

The first time, yes. The second time I think they broke in the bath, can't remember much of a difference. Maybe it's the arm that makes them so strong rather than natural rupture? More likely that the boney head pressing on your vjj without padding is just more painful!

Didn't make any difference here...my waters popped out pretty much intact just before my beautiful DD did!

Depending on when ARM is done, such as during labour to help progression it can cause more painful contractions. If your fore waters are intact they can act as a buffer between bub and the cervix. When they rupture it allows bubs head to descend and put more pressure on the cervix which causes more pain.

Was in labour for 10 hrs before midwife broke my waters, the actual arm didn't hurt but the contractions which were already really painful at that point got a lot stronger. DD was born an hour and a half later.
