Im 27 weeks pregnant and have been having excrutiating calf and foot cramps during the night when i stretch in my sleep. It waks me everytime and is so painful im almost in tears.
Can anyone help me out with relieveing them or preventing them?
Im also having terrible issues with my scatia (sp?) nerve to the point DH has suggested i go see a chiro? I get it really bad on the left side of my lower back and into my bum and down my leg. Especially if im sitting and get up too quickly it feels like i have been stabbed in the bum.
So as you can imagine, im getting pretty much **** all sleep of a night and it's really taking it's toll. No matter how many pillows and whatever position, i keep getting sore and restless.
Im over it. I want this baby OUT NOW!

I had that with my last pregnancy and it was torture! What i did was a lot of leg massage before bed to help with blood flow and elevate leg with a pillow when sleeping, also gentle exercise of leg during the day. It did help a bit especially the massage.
Hang in there!

Look at Salt/ electrolytes/ Dehydration being a cause of the Cramps (as in not enough)
With the Sciatica maybe Physio? I was getting it for months before I requested a change of treatment.. I need to have my leg pulled on a regular basis to release the nerve.
I am a major sufferer of both prior to pregnancy, The cramps is more electrolytes for me. I try to have a glass of hydrolyte/powerade or salt water before bed and it helps.

I ate a banana before bed every night, seemed to help with the leg cramps, and drank heaps of water.
I had sciatic nerve pain, nothing helped not even chiro. Although I did have some short term relief after swimming

Our middy suggested calf stretches before bed, it works for me and helps keep those leg cramps at bay.
For sciatica I use a wheat pack I've had it since before I was UTD now at 30w its really bad, a wheat pack and panadol helps a lot

My doctor suggested calcium tablets just before going to bed and they have really decreased the leg cramping - not sure that this would help with sciatica tho
