Default Too big for baby bjorn but how to carry baby without a pram?

Our 5.5mo old is getting too big for the baby bjorn air carrier.

We'd still like something to carry baby on us without needing pram (i.e. bushwalking).

Are the backpack style things (such as the Kathmandu Karinjo: https://www.kathmandu.com.au/karinjo...late-grey.html) the next step?

Baby can hold his head independently but cannot sit up unassisted yet. Is he the right age for a backpack carrier?

You could always get an Ergo, or a Manduca. They are like the bjorn but better for bubs and more comfortable for you.

Another option is to buy a woven wrap (such as a Girasol, Didymos, Ellevill try googling). They are great for most ages. They are easy to use and comfortable for bub and you.

I have an Ergo that I started using when they were newborns and still use now for my 4yr old.

    Definitely a worthwhile investment.

You could definitely use one for your bub at this age... and because it allows the baby's weight to be carried by your hips (in an even distribution) it doesn't hurt your back, and because the baby is 'sitting' in it, not hanging in it, it's much better for their hips and back too

Another one who loves the ergo! I can confortably wear my (small) 2 year old for ages. I also had a found it million times more comfy then a baby Bjorn with a little one, so you might too, meaning a good inverstment if your planning another

Another ergo lover here! I also have one called a Tula which is similar in design to the ergo but I find even more comfy.
It sounds like you guys like hiking, well we go hiking every weekend and I wear my 18m old on my back the whole time no problems. At 5 months I would have bubba on my front but you will still be very comfy.
Now as far as the hiking backpacks go, I wouldn't put baby in them till closer to 9 months. They just don't have the same support for a little baby. Having said that my husband likes the hiking backpack for our 3yo so you may end up using one in the future.
