It could be you geared up to O, but then for whatever reason it didn't happen, so your body is getting ready to do it this time.

I had my acupuncture appointment tonight. I was feeling hopeful and positive that I had ovulated using clomid for the first time and might be in with a chance, but she told me that I should not expect to fall pregnant for a little while yet as she has me on 'blood moving' herbs to help the endo and wants to see how things go with my next couple of periods I am feeling so confused and conflicted as my FS is taking an aggressive approach and saying he only wants me to do clomid for 4 cycles before looking at other options, but acupuncture does things slowly (I have been doing it for 7months now)... I am thinking about taking a step back from acupuncture as I'm feeling a little overwhelmed and confused by it. It is rather involved in terms of 3x daily supplements, weekly treatments, diet, exercise and is rather expensive. Thing is, I don't know how to approach it with her and say I think I need some space... I'm not good at speaking up!

Does anyone (in particular J from a medical point of view) have an opinion on acupuncture/chinese medicine to treat endo/fertility or have any suggestions on how to approach my feelings with the acupuncturist? Thanks ladies.
I have been trying to work out how I should answer this question. As a medical doctor, I have an obvious bias towards conventional Medicine. The reason for this is: I need scientific and clinical proof that a treatment approach has a good chance of success. I need to understand the physiology, pathophysiology (disease process) and pharmacology (the way in which a drug works at a molecular level), of the treatment. I want to know the success rate of a treatment, and its risks versus benefits.

Your Fertility Specialist is just that...a "specialist" in the area of fertility. He will have done extensive study and clinical work in the area of fertility, and be up-to-date with the latest treatment regimes. This is not to say all Fertility Specialists are demi-Gods, but as a general rule, they are very experienced in a whole range of infertility issues.

Re: your Acupuncturist...I have never even heard of "blood moving" herbs? To me, it makes no sense. The only thing that "moves" your blood is the pumping action of your heart! And, I cannot see any way in which "moving" your blood would assist in the treatment and/or reduction in size of your endometriosis.

Oh dear...I have got on my high horse, and probably offended you!

This said, there is a place for Acupuncture as a complimentary treatment. In addition, not instead of, your conventional treatment by your FS. However, if you are finding it overwhelming and expensive, I think it is probably not in your best interests to continue. If you do want to continue, but at a less intense level, and as an "adjunct" to your FS, then perhaps just tell her that. Please don't be pressured into something you are not comfortable with.

I hope I haven't upset you; this is my honest opinion, and I really don't want you to be misled by your Acupuncturist.

    J xx.

Depends on which "method" you use, there are several. However, it is generally thought that at least 3 BBTs above your LTL (low temperature level), all of which must be 0.05 degrees higher than your LTL.
This is not 100% accurate however. A "thermal shift" (sustained rise in BBTs) is a fairly reliable sign that ovulation has occurred, but again, it's not fool-proof.
What was your BBT today? Can you post your chart?

Hmm sorry I'm not sure about that one. J should be able to help!

AFM- CD 18 and my U/S this morning showed a 15mm follie. Estrogen is 1050 so been told to have a trigger shot tomorrow 4pm, so off to buy it now. I really really hope it works again this time like last month, and that this month it sticks! Do not want to go through another chemical again.

J- can I ask you a question please? As I am due to O early on Monday morning if I do the trigger on Saturday, should I BD every day now? We've DTD the last two nights, so was thinking it should be every day until and including Monday night. But worried that the sperm count might be reduced too much and maybe I should leave off doing it tonight and resume tomorrow? Daily sex doesn't seem to have hindered us before, but just worrying this time! Thanks!
    This is a really interesting question...Let me share 2 things with you;

    1. I read an article recently on a study conducted in the UK, which looked at the semen of men who ejaculated once-daily for 7 days (for the purpose of the study ). It found that after about 5 days, the quality of the sperm improved with less DNA fragmentation (genetic damage) of the sperm. There was a slight reduction in semen volume (the fluid component, not the sperm), but no reduction in sperm count. The study therefore recommended daily sex in the "fertile window". Daily sex = better quality sperm. This makes sense, as it increases the turnover of sperm in the testes/epididymis, and therefore results in better sperm quality as they are not "hanging around too long".

    2. I asked my OBGYN this same question a few months ago, and she said that there have been studies which have shown that the more sex a couple has, the greater their likelihood of pregnancy.

So, my advice would be to have sex daily from tonight until at least Monday night.

    Good luck!!

    J x.

Wow...they are VERY "textbook"! That's great Lil Smurfy. You almost certainly ovulated some time on Wednesday.
You had lots of sex on the days before, and including, Wednesday I hope?
    Very nice BBTs indeed.

Can you post a picture of the OPK? Just to confirm you are reading it right? I am sure you are, but it can be really confusing when you first start out...the test line has to be as dark, or darker, than the control line.
Lil Smurfy is right; if the OPK on the 29th September was a clear positive, and yesterday's was also a clear positive, then it may be you had an LH surge but did not ovulate, and therefore you are "gearing up" to try again.
