Default when do you visit gp for fertilty tests?

Hello, I'm new here! Just looking for some support and advice in ttc.

my name is michelle. hubby and I are trying for baby #2 atm. we have been trying for 6 months but sadly we are still not pregnant. our first baby was conceived naturally 4 years ago but happened quite quickly in comparison to now.

i just want to know should we be going to our gp for any fertility testing? or is it still too early to consider this avenue? i'm 27 and hubby is 35

I have no advice to give, but good luck. Perhaps you could speak to a clinic that specialises in fertility testing for some information?

I would just go to your GP and ask their advice. I waited for 12 months and I wish I hadn't, they can only say come back in 6 months or lets do some BT's etc. If you are concerned go and see them.

Hubby's age is something they take into account these days too.

I have been reading TCOYF and the recommendation in there is that if you are charting cycles and nothing happens of timing bd'ing with charting after 4 cycles, then it could be time to have a chat to your GP. The good old 12 month rule doesn't assume that you are timing things correctly each and every cycle!

I'm in my 4th cycle, but first cycle of charting. Have already decided that if we are still trying at the 6 cycle mark, it's time to get some help - at least basic investigations done (bloods to determine O & semen analysis). I have had several people tell me not to leave it too late. As we are fast approaching mid thirties, time is of an essence!!
