Any recommendations? I am doing a calmbirth course at some stage but have heard good things about some CDs as well.

I'm also wanting to go down the Calm Birth/Hypnobabies path. My naturopath does Calm Birth courses but I don't really know the difference between the two? Are they roughly the same deal?

I didn't do a course but I did read up on hypnobirthing when I had DD. From what I could gather just play any music that gets you in the zone. I had lovely classical music as that worked for me. I had music like this playing
It really did work a treat.

I did a hypnobirthing course before DS and am so glad I did!
its a lot about trusting your body and baby to do what is required, about using positioning as a way of minimizing pain and about using meditation and mindfulness.
It was exactly what I needed. The course provided me with a CD and book. The cd I loaded onto my iPod and listened to the medications and affirmations during my yoga sessions and when I was going to sleep.
Reading this, I sound like a right hippy!

Hypno birthing didn't work for me. I just used some audio files from the internet. I was induced and my labour came on quickly with contractions one minute apart about 30 minutes into my labour so I had no time to get into the zone.
I'd recommend doing a class as the CD's alone did bugger all for me!

But I was forced to lie on one side with a fetal monitor attached, which made getting in the zone or trying the different positions practiced non-existent. All the training went out the window sadly!
Hopefully I can put in to place more this time around, if my labour is a little more normal.

I used the Mongan Hypnobirthing book and CD. I found they were good. I also used some relaxation MP3s from a friend. It had an Australian man talking. I'm not sure of who published those ones. I'll try and find out for you because they were very good too.
