I was in your situation with an emotionally abusive partner. We would fight constantly, he threatened to kill himself, wrecked our stuff, threatened to harm pets etc.
My advice is to LEAVE !!!! What you have isn't a family, it's not healthy for ANY of you, it won't get better.
Sure when my xdh and I separated my ds was very upset and kept asking for his dad but he's much happier now that there is no fighting and tension at home.
Best of luck, it's not an easy decision to make but trust me, you'll be soooooooo much happier when you do.
