Yeah we don't play 'killing'. So they're a no go here, but we do have water guns.

I don't have any issue with it.

I also think it's normal and (usually) healthy for children to play games that confront death, killing, etc.

Default What do you think about little boys playing with toy guns?

One of my favorite memories is watching my dad, DF & DS run around the backyard in a shootout.

DS got his first toy gun for his first birthday. We've had a few talks about what's pretend & what's real in games and he knows the difference - like throwing things at other cars playing Mario Kart is okay, throwing thing at other cars when we're driving somewhere is not!

Guns should be respected. They should not be toys. Killing should not be a game. Army/war is not a joke or a game. Our soldiers and police officers are being killed. This should not be made light of.

I never wanted my son to have toy guns but people bought some for him anyway. My 5 year old turns anything and everything into a gun playing batman and other games. I'm hoping my 15 month old isn't going to be same.

Would you think children playing 'suicide bombers' is the same thing? I think it is. What if toy shops sold little jackets packed with dynamite and nails, made out of plastic?

ITS ALL THE SAME THING TO ME.

My girls are only 3, I don't think they've ever played with toy guns.
    I'm not against it.

We live in the country though and DF does have a shot gun in a safe bolted to the shed floor so I'm not anti guns.
I do however feel very strongly about being educated and responsible with them.

I hate them. I don't encourage it. But they make them out of toys, lego, paper, fingers. Drives me up the wall.

My boys have nerf and water guns, I don't mind them playing with them. I've seen kids playing with toy machine guns and that crosses my line, they look to real and doesn't quite sit right with me.
I have friends that have a "no gun" rule, doesn't bother me when they are over guns get packed away out of respect. I can see both sides of the argument so we limit the usage and how they play with them.
