    At that age I did but kept a close eye. We have some hazards like concrete steps, a side gate that could possibly be opened by them etc. like app said, they never stayed outside for long, they needed me with them to fetch/carry/wipe/break up fights/turn on taps/check sand for spiders/ etc etc etc

    **Nothing spells as goof as typo splats**

    It also depends on the child.

    My 2 play outside all the time while I'm inside. Our yard is secure and I check on them every few minutes but they play really well together outside. I would never get anything done if they didn't play outside.

    no, our backyard is on a slope with lots of thick plants...and a gully that runs all the way along the back fence...way too many dangers!

    They play on the balcony (which is super dooper DD proofed lol) by themselves as long as I am in the lounge room down stairs.
