The Coles down the rd here have them in paper bags on a metal hot box :-( lol
I find it crazy that each store can do things so differently.
Oh well lol. I guess I will search around my Coles stores :-)

    Default Roast chicken from shops

Coles BBQ chickens are cooked for one hour and fifteen minutes, in a zanussi (sp?) oven.

They come in from steggles I'm pretty sure, along with the breasts, thighs, legs and wings.

Once the cook is complete they are required to temperature check at least two of the chickens from different parts of the rack.

They have a time limit on getting them into the warmer as well. The warmer also has to pass a temp check.

Chickens are only allowed to be kept for four hours, by the third hour they should be reduced, by the fourth they're dumped.

The time the cook finishes must be on the chicken bag.

Most stores offer mount barker free range chickens as well now

Customers are entitled to an ingredient list on ALL products from the deli if they request one. Product information is freely available, just ask.

So, knowing all that, I'm confident in their chickens. You can always call the store and ask what time the next batch of chickens will be coming off so you can come get one straight from the oven.

No wouldn't touch those chooks nor red rooster etc. I wouldn't know if the chickens are kept hot enough for any bugs to stay away.

I'm super paranoid and hate getting sick.

As most people have said already, if it is fresh and it is hot you will be fine.

I would eat them if I could get close enough to them with out the smell making me ill, fingers crossed I'll get over my issues soon.

I have even needed to change the Coles I go to because the chooks are too close to the fruit and veg section!
