Default Stuff you thought everyone else knew......

So I work as a waitress, and am amazed at the amount of people who will put their knife and fork together on their plate (you know to say that they're finished eating) and then get cranky when I try to clear their plate because their apparently still eating!!!

I thought this was general restaurant/dining etiquette that everyone knew....but apparently not.

What other things did you think that everyone knew and was stunned to find out heaps of people didn't?

It drives me nuts when I see people holding a champagne flute incorrectly. Hold it by the stem, people! So the champagne stays cold!

Well, I DIDN'T know that canned tuna never goes off. I still find it hard to believe. I bet everyone else knew that.

I was mega shocked when I got with df (and still sometimes am) about his restaurant/alcohol etiquette. I was raised on fine dining and fine alcohol (not drinking it but just learning about how to have different wines, how to appreciate scotch and fine spirits and stuff). The perks of social standing.
However df came from fast food and never learned any of this stuff.

Also I thought everyone knew the difference between red and white wines but I have met several people who have no idea :/

Hehe I'm guilty of this.... I'm too much of a klutz (let alone when I'm drinking!) to hold it by the stem without flinging champagne everywhere :S Always feel like I'm going to drop it as well....

That demerit points on your license are accumulated. So many people I speak to seem to think that you lose points off your license, where you actually accumulate them

Just googled that thinking surely WineTime must live in a different state than I do and they have things backwards. But no, you are right!!!

(Plus I discovered exactly how many demerit points one can accumulate...more than I thought...)
