Hi ladies I haven't been on for a while . I couldn't work out why I wasnt getting the daily bub hub email when I realised it was because there is a new thread .. Doh!
Firstly a big congrats to Felicita and hubby on the twinnies arriving . It's very exciting and busy times ahead x
Nat you looked gorgeous on your wedding . The photos are lovely.
To all the rest of you ladies whatever stage you are at lots of wishes your way x
For the ladies who mentioned immune treatment how did you know to get tested for that ? I have just tested bfn after FET # 2. I can't even be bothered to go to the BT on Wednesday as I am so disappointed (Is it bad that I have voluntarily stopped pessaries as of tonight?).
I know i've only had 3 transfers in total which in the scheme of things isn't a lot but I have supposedly great blastocysts and good hormones, lining etc but they don't stick at all. I have a FS appt in 2 weeks . I have no idea what FS will say but I suspect he won't want to pursue to much extra ( FS specialises in mild IvF and loves natural cycles (which is great when it works) . I have 2 blasts left so I want to maximise this next attempt - do you think it's worth asking for a second opinion from an RI before doing another FET?
Sorry I have completely high jacked the post I am feeling very hopeless right now

TTHC – hi there! I’m doing well thanks. Yes, I’m doing a FET this month. More details below. How are you going? Hope all is well with bubs!! Nat – welcome home! Glad you had a great honeymoon. Sorry to hear you’ve had BP issues, hope it all settles now. Paddlegirl – thanks! So, what do you think about the NK cells? Might be worth looking into. Are you with IVFA already? Bella – I’m doing fine, not much happening yet – just waiting to O. I have heard good things about Dr Matthias. What made you suspect you had an immune problem, and go to see him? Lillac – so sorry you’re feeling hopeless. Have you considered changing FS if you don’t think yours will want to consider checking anything or doing anything differently? Wishing4 – good luck with finding a donor! Is it donor embryos you’re after? AFM: Yes, doing first ever FET this cycle – natural one, so just waiting to O. AF has come & gone - it’s CD8. I have my first BT on Thursday to see what’s going on. I wouldn’t expect to O before CD16 or 17, as I don’t usually until then. Anyone who has done a FET with IVFA – can you tell me how it usually goes? All I know is that it’s just a BT on Thurs. Will they do a scan at any point to check the lining? I am drinking pom juice & raspberry leaf tea, have acupuncture tonight & am taking Vit E and l-arginine (which tastes horrible), so hopefully will be okay. I am just so scared that the frosty will not defrost properly & we’ll have nothing to transfer. However, there is another exciting development in the works. We have found a potential private sperm donor, who we’re talking to, lining up for November if the FET doesn’t work or frosty doesn’t thaw, etc. Just going to try the “natural” way – well, except for us natural will mean more turkey baster style, but without the drugs, EPUs etc.

LillaC hang in there.
Wishing - hello!!! I'm chugging along. Time has gone by so quickly. Hope all is well with you.
Peonies - best of luck for transfer! Have everything crossed.
TTHC - hope you're travelling well with your pregnancy.
Not much happening. Bit nauseous again but the end is in sight. 13 more weeks to go. I have my glucose test in a couple of weeks. Hmmmm the carb loading will be fun though.
Most things are sorted around the house for bubs. My mum is coming over when I start mat leave in 7 weeks.
Take care everyone!

Wishing4 - NK cells are Natural Killer cells. I copied this from another website as it explains it better than I can! Natural killer cells are members of a type of white blood cell known as "lymphocytes". They perform a number of very important functions including survaillance against cancer cells and infection. However, there is evidence that excess activity in women of reproductive years can be associated with recurrent pregnancy loss and implantation failure.
Lillac - I don't think it's too early to request further testing. I am notorious for waiting too long to take action. I waited 2 years 3 months to see a FS, another 9 months to start IVF, then 6 failed IVF attempts before I saw an RI. According to most pieces I've read, 3 or more IVF failures or miscarriages may suggest immune issues. I'd recommend making an appointment for sure. The tests are BTs and maybe also a hysteroscopy and endometrial biopsy. There may be others, but this is what I had.
Peonies - I decided after 6 IVF attempts and no baby that something else must be up. They always tell me my embryos look great, we always get 4-5 nice blastocysts. All our other 'issues' (PCO, Endo, AntiSperm antibodies) are bypassed through ICSI, so it seemed that I had an issue with implantation. I came across a thread on here while I was researching and that lead me to Dr Matthias and more involved immune testing. His treatment plan is quite aggressive and a lot of FS don't agree with his approach...but they don't seem to know what else to do with me so FS agreed!
AFM - Jabbing away, my tummy is sore and bruised from Clexane Not looking forward to a 3rd injection being thrown into the mix but I start Orgalutron tomorrow night. RI called today and my Intralipid Infusion is booked for Friday afternoon. Should take about 8 hours. Also have first BT and US Fri morning so it will be a busy day!

Bella you sound very patient. I would have lost the plot after 6 attempts with no testing. I am the opposite I am impatient and neurotic and can't accept that's it's just a numbers game! I was told the same thing as you - great text book ICSI cycle greats blasts but zero implantation . It almost feels like I have wasted my embys. Where is Dr M's clinic? I am not ready to sack my FS - I am glad I found him and i can tell he knows what he's talking about but I just think he has more confidence in my body than I do.
Peonies, I did 2 natural FET (+ clomid) with IVFA. It's pretty easy and straight forward. The First one i had BT on CD11 then another BT and scan a couple of days later. I didn't need the OPK's (serapax) as the FS instructed an Ovridrel trigger to OV, transfer 5 days later. I had to insist on pessaries though.
The 2nd one I only needed 1 BT & scan on CD12 and I was already surging so FET booked in 5 days later.
I was worried about the embys too but I think the labs and scientists are very good- i havent lost any cells in the thawing. Too bad the little buggers aren't sticking . I hope you have a good easy cycle and Fx your emby sticks x

Thanks Bella for all the useful info. Do you recall how long it took to get the results?
Bella and Peonies, I am not at IVFA yet, but I have made an appt to see Dr G Sacks to have the NK cells testing. I wont be going ahead with being at IVFA totally, because.....
I am actually leaving Syd , going to Perth to live for a while, not sure how long. My parents live in Perth. I posted some time ago that I was worried about my Dad and somehow last year it hit me that he might not have long left (he doesnt have anything that is killing him so to speak, but he is 80, frail, cant walk far, has lost muscle strength in arms and legs, and seems to have given up on life). Mum is looking after him and feeling the strain so I am going to spend some time with them and help out.
So things are up in the air. DH and I intend to continue IVF in Perth. Been looking at some clinics.
but at the moment, we are madly culling our stuff and starting to pack up the house

Hi Lillac - I'm not that patient! - I did have lots of tests done after cycle #3 but they showed nothing out of the ordinary. I wish I didn't wait so long for NK testing (I asked my FS after 3 cycles but he brushed it off ). If I had my IVF time again I would demand as many tests as possible early on. I know what you mean about feeling like you've wasted embies.
Dr M sees his patients in Bankstown and Miranda, and operates at Hurstville Private and Kareena Private. I think the wait for an appt is about a month. Once you make an appt they will send you paperwork to fill out and you also need to get your FS to send over any BT results they have for you and a few other bits and pieces. You can also do phone consults (but no M'care rebate).
Paddlegirl - I love Perth, it's one of my favourite places! When will you move? It's really good of you to go over and help your Mum. I got my BT results back within a week or 2. He also had DH do another SA. He may do more involved BTs which he sends to the clinic in Chicago, they take a bit longer to get back and are more expensive. Dr M doesn't not do IVF, only the RI side of things, so you have to stay with a FS for the actual cycle and the RI just prescribes the immune meds and monitors that side of things. (Actually, all that info is for Dr M, I'm not sure about Dr Sacks). Definitely get all your tests done before you head west as I think Dr Sacks and Dr Matthias are the only 2 in Aus that specialise in this area.
Anyway, I'll stop hijacking our thread with all the immune testing talk. Here are the Bubhub threads that I found really helpful with finding info for this:
http://www.repro-med.net/repro-med-site2/ (This is the website for the Dr Beer centre for reproductive immunology - Dr M trained under this Dr - it has some good info)
to all the other Sydney girls.
