I use palmers body oil (coz I love the chocolatey smell) and Mum 2 Be organic stretch mark butter. Just wondering if any of you have any proven remedies for preventing stretch marks? So far I have none on my tummy and I'm hoping to keep it that way :-)

What stretch mark cream / oil do you use?
I have mostly used palmers cocoa butter, but used a whole bottle of Bio Oil I got as gift, and after they both ran out I am now just using a cheap Woolworth's moisturizer with Vitamin E. I am 36 weeks and not a single stretch mark so far
However I really think that some people will get stretch marks no matter how much/expensive/often they use cream, and others could not use anything and still get no stretch marks. Just one of those things!

I used different ones on and off. I use bio oil sparingly and find that good and at the moment I'm using palmers cocoa butter stretch mark massage cream. It's thick so you massage it in and I'm finding it helps with the itching and has already worked well at fading my stretch marks. Have only got some on my sides and the ones on my belly are very slight.

My only tip with regards to stretch marks is to accept that there is nothing you can do to prevent them. Creams, butters and oils don't penetrate deep enough into the layers of skin, stretch marks are deeper than the creams/oils can penetrate.
Generally it's all down to genetics, which you can't change or improve.
I didn't use anything during either of my pregnancies, and I didn't get any.Last edited by Guest1234; 03-09-2012 at 21:31.

As runawayprincess said, there's nothing you can do. All the products that claim otherwise have no evidence to support that they work, or have been proved not to work. Stretchmarks are damage too deep in the skin to be affected by creams.
It's mostly genetic, and a little bit lifestyle (there seem to be some links with hydration, smoking etc.)
I'm 36 weeks and have a LOT, but they only started appearing at about 32 weeks.

I am using Palmers cocoa butter and Bio Oil mixed together daily. I know that if I am going to get stretch marks I will get them regardless of what I put on, so I wouldn't go out and buy some miracle stretch mark cream, it's a pretty big waste of money. I am only using those two because I had them in my cupboard already.

Haven't been using anything and don't have any. Didn't really worry about it because as pp said you can't stop them. I do need to start using some sort of moisturizer though as my belly has been getting quite itchy of late.

I used palmers and bio oil. I'm covered in stretch marks. I didn't get them until the last weeks of pregnancy either.
If you are going to get them it will happen regardless of what creams you use.
