Default Baby refusing bottle, any bottle & teat recommendations?

Hi, I'm going back to work in a week and my 4 & 1/2 month old has started to refuse the bottle he much prefers the boob. He has been taking a bottle once every second day since he was 5 weeks old (using EBM), and in the last 2/3 weeks we increased it to 1-2 bottles a day (using EBM & formula). All this time we have been using the Avent bottles & teats with the number 2 teats (have tried the number 3 teats which he takes sometime but he coughs & splutters a bit with them). In the last week each time he sees the bottle he just starts screaming. I'm wondering if maybe his teeth are bothering him, he has had red cheeks on & off since he was 12 weeks old, he sucks on his hands & drools a lot. I'm going to get some teething numbing gel to put on his gums before feeding him and am looking for some bottle and teats that might be a bit softer on his gums, any suggestions?

I would not bother persevering with a bottle because you are returning to work. I tortured myself for months over the same thing. I found it was easier to just provide some ebm in a cup for the carers. My dd took to a straw cup by 6 months. She tended to have the bare minimum while I was away and catch up with breastfeeds when I returned.

Our DS had Medela bottles & teats for EBM, worked well for us.

Mine refused all bottles and teats. The ended up straight on sippy cups. They where older then your bub though.

Try soaking the teat in boiling water so it's soft and warm like a nipple

Try a Tupperware style sippy cup (ie no valve) my ds drank from that at 5 months, would not have a bottle!

I found Dr Browns Wide Neck bottles were the only ones my breastfed babies would drink from

Thanks for that ladies was thinking of trying the closer to nature ones and if that doesn't work I'll try a cup instead. Any cups in particular sippy cups/ones with a straw? Fingers crossed it works the count down till returning to work is on, don't want DS to be upset & go without his milk during the day.
