Default TTC No 1 with PCOS chat #5

I'm seeing a Gyno who is helping out with all the baby stuff...

She said I'd need to be insulin resistant to get on Metformin(?)

    I definitely cannot afford IVF...
And she said no to Clomid as she is only at my health service every fortnight....

I might need to really throw a million questions at her Monday and get some serious answers as to why, why not about everything.

These are the reasons I took a holiday from TTC hehehe
It all gets a bit overwhelming at times...

She won't let you do it if she's only there every two weeks cause you need to be monitored with regular scans to ensure you don't get too many follicles and end up octomum!

Injections and IUI are not IVF but are excellent cheaper alternatives that may be worth looking into. You'd have to be seeing a FS though - might also find you get more help on metformin with a FS too but see how you go with your tests.

If cost is a big issue might be worth looking into your options with the safety net as I'm fairly sure for health care card holders it's only about $600 before you qualify and then you'll find everything significantly cheaper

Don't let it get you down, there's always a way and plenty of people on here to help and support! It's just a crappy process.

I will definitely write all this down and talk to her about other options..
My regular GP could do the monitoring though couldn't they?
    Same facility....

I'm ok with being octomum, wouldn't have to go through this again rofl =op

Prob not on GP monitoring unless they do it with blood tests (which some do?) but generally you'll need internal ultrasounds. My FS had the machine in her room and I'd just have a quick scan at every appointment.

    Thanks so much

If I can't get pregnant then my partner will do it for us instead... So it's not really the end of the world I guess...

I'd just really like to be the pregnant one....I think she'd prefer that too lmao

    Hi Guys

Hi Purpz, sorry to hear the journey hasn't been fun, but I support everything gf has said (you are so knowledgeable GF!!).

AFM I have had two scans, one at 5wk2d and one at 6w2d and the little bean grew and had a heart beat! Our FS said we couldn't have hoped for better results. Now we wait until 8wk and go for another scan to make sure there's still growth.

I'm a bundle of emotions but most of all we are really happy. it's a sticky one. Oh and I'm also feeling so yucky, so that makes me feel a bit calmer that things are working as they should!

Will check back in at the 8 week mark.

    to you all

I'm off to the Gyno as we speak to get results and see what comes next!

I've made notes so that I remember other options to discuss...

    Metformin is go from today!

And an upcoming appointment with a FS to discuss Clomid!

I was so worried I'd be told I couldn't have anything, as last time the Gyno seemed less enthusiastic...

But today she was trying to find all options available!

So, bear with me ladies.... I'm starting to feel like maybe I actually will get to be a mum after all!!!!

Thanks again for all the well wishes and advice!

    You're all angels!!

Della: good luck with the next scan

GF: thanks so much... I didn't even need to ask questions this time, it's like she knew what I wanted to ask and answered before I even had the chance lol
